Design of Celina Elementary School was completed in early 2023. The building, which includes a new 115,000-square-foot addition to the existing Celina Intermediate School, serves pre-kindergarten through 6th-grade students.

The addition is home to PK-3 students and is located west of the CIS building on Portland Street. The 81,000-sq. ft. intermediate school, which serves grades 4-6, was renovated and reprogramed as part of the district’s overall building project.

Construction of the new Celina Elementary School addition kicked off with an Oct. 21, 2022, groundbreaking ceremony. Abatement and demolition of the existing West Building ensued, with all remaining site construction being complete prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year.  

Design of the future Celina High School is now complete. This new Celina High School building, which will serve grades 7-12, will be located on the existing Celina Primary School and Celina High School campus.  The groundbreaking ceremony for the 7-12 building was held Nov. 25, 2024, and its anticipated opening date for students is the start of the 2027-28 academic school year.  Demolition of the existing Celina High School building is scheduled for spring 2027, and any final site construction will be completed in late spring/early summer of 2027.

The district is planning to repurpose the existing middle school building to house the Mercer County Head Start program and the district offices. There also are plans to maintain the gymnasium and student dining spaces for extracurricular and athletic activities. Any renovation work associated with the existing middle school would likely occur after the completion of the new Celina High School.
